Tesla's Motor Design team drives multi-physics optimization activities for the electric motors of all production vehicles. Electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical aspects of motor design and production-related constraints are considered within advanced multi-objective optimization problems aiming to maximize performance and efficiency and minimize cost.We are seeking an Intern Electrical or Mechanical Engineer at the last year of their MSc studies (preferably at the conclusion thesis) to work as part of the Tesla motor technology team located in Athens, Greece. As an intern in the motor design team, you will work with modeling and optimization of traction motors considering real EV specifications. You will be challenged with complex optimization problems, involving multiple and conflicting criteria, and decision-making, considering optimal design trade-offs.What You'll Do
- Responsible for developing advanced Matlab functions to model motor performance.
- Develop new and enhance existing motor system optimization functions based on multiple criteria.
- Perform coupled electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical performance optimization.
- Process big data, select the most compelling candidates and visualize the results.
- Gain experience with numerical optimization and visualization of multi-objective tradeoffs.
- Develop solid understanding of electrical machine design and identify the impact of key design and operating parameters.
- Fluency in English.
- Strong mathematical and physics background.
- Strong Matlab programming skills.
- Understanding of optimization fundamentals.
- Very good understanding of electromagnetics and electric circuits.
- Experience analyzing electric motors using Finite Element Method.
- Good understanding of thermal and mechanical modeling.
