Heron Energy S.A. member of GEK TERNA Group of Companies, is looking for R&D Data ScientistAs a R&D Data Scientist you will be responsible for developing and testing in production environment Machine Learning and AI applications focusing on the Energy Sector in support of HERON’s Applied R&D activities. Such activities include the development of descriptive and predictive analytics with applications in Electricity & Gas Markets, Grid Flexibility Services, Big Data based on IoT smart metersResponsibilities

Process and analyze data related to the company’s participation in the Electricity and Gas markets,
Develop AI-based models that support tools and procedures utilized by the company’s energy management department,
Contribute in the development of energy optimisation models for multiple energy stakeholders (incl. DR consumers, Storage, RES generation etc),
Develop energy related forecasting models and consumer clustering and market segmentation based on smart meter data as part of HERON’s involvement in EU funded Research and Innovation projects,
Develop dashboards, visualisations and automated reports turning ML / AI outputs into clear and actionable insights,
Be directly involved in EU funded Research projects by participating in project meetings and documenting effort as part of technical reports and deliverables.

Requirements

University degree and postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, or another related STEM field,
Minimum 3 years of practical experience in implementation of ML / AI products,
Knowledge of optimization and control methods in energy systems.
Working knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: Python, R, C++, Julia.
Working knowledge of at least one of the following databases: Postgres, SQL Server, Mongo.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, for internal and external stakeholder engagement
Experience in European and Nationally funded projects, (is a plus)
Working knowledge of at least one of the following: HTML, CSS, Javascript for user interface development (is a plus)
Experience in at least one of the following fields would be appreciated: Demand Side Flexibility, Demand Response, Renewable Energy Aggregation, Smart Grids, Electric Vehicles (is a plus)

Ability to work independently & manage his/her own tasks and workflow.
Excellent in multi-tasking skills
