- Ensure projects have defined objectives and goals which are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely
- Ensure projects follow appropriate governance and compliance processes and any deviations are captured, communicated and approved via the appropriate channels
- Ensure projects deliver the benefits on time, to budget and with the appropriate level of quality
- Ensure that the Chubb Development methodology is followed by all staff on the project, and that any variations to the standard process are authorised by the PMO.
- Ensure that resources providing project governance are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure that progress is measured against the schedule, that corrective action is taken and that project governance is operated via fortnightly status reporting and monthly steering group meetings. Manage trade-offs between scope, quality, time and cost in accordance with the Critical Success Factors as the project progresses.
- Manage production of required project deliverables as defined in the project plan.
- Identify and manage changes to the project's scope, ensuring that impact assessments are undertaken, that appropriate authorisation is secured and that adjustments to plans are made and communicated to all stakeholders.
- Implement clear escalation procedures, identify and manage project issues and risks, and ensure that contingency plans are prepared and actioned in a timely fashion. Where issues will take the project outside of project or stage tolerance, prepare an exception plan for approval by the steering group and, upon approval, action the plan in a timely manner.
- Increase the accuracy of project estimates after the initiation phase, ensure that correct contingency levels are applied and adjusted throughout the project, and that the contingency budget is managed rather than consumed.
- Ensure that the appropriate communication is in place to the relevant individuals/parties as identified in the communications plan.
- Ensure that all projects and project deliverable are documented in sufficient detail to facilitate internal and external audits.
- Understand vendor resource profiles and rates and ensure the work is structured in such a way as to maximise the benefits of the offshoring model and the Chubb ratecards.
- Identify, plan and manage cross project dependencies, particularly where there is resource contention and apply release management in conjunction and cooperation with the other project managers.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a recognised university
- At least 3 years' experience of working as a Project manager and managing data projects
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Good understanding of Data design principles and methodologies
- Clear articulation and presentation skills
- Self-starter and ability to run business workshops and user training sessions
- Experience in project management methodologies and the use of such approaches (more specifically Agile/SAfE and SDLC),
- A recognised PM qualification is desirable but not mandatory.
- Ability to manage stakeholders personalities; ability to persuade, influence and direct the business community and keep key users onside and bought-in
- Highly organised, extremely goal oriented mindset; logical, thorough and detail-oriented.
- Appreciation understanding of multiple aspects of data warehousing, data architecture, data modelling, modelling, master data management, ETL.
- Expertise in understanding and communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Understanding the role of data in delivering business benefit and a
- Strong knowledge of MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Word required
- Prior Exposure to global insurance business
- Exposure to working with Offshore development teams
- Experience in global and distributed environments and business consolidation efforts.
- Good knowledge of an enterprise portfolio management tool e.g. Clarity and Jira are preferred
- Experience of delivering cross functional projects in accordance with formalised project methodologies covering both Waterfall and Agile approaches
- Technical expertise, ideally gained via the developer route, covering design, estimation, development and implementation.
- Experience of project delivery over (or including a component of) one or more of the following:
- enterprise data environments, management information, statutory reporting, analytics
- Experience of the financial services Insurance sector
- Experience of working with outsource providers with an on/offshore model
- Experience in a similar role for a blue chip organization
