Location: Veroia, Serres, Polykastro-KilkisStarting Date: ASAPStatus: Fixed term/Full TimeChild Safeguarding Policy: Level 3 - The job holder will have regular contact with children.Reports To: Project CoordinatorJob OverviewThe post holder is responsible for the successful implementation of all teaching activities for the target population (i.e. migrants and refugees). Under the guidance of the Project Coordinator, he/she will perform vigorous follow-up and directly participate in the implementation of various educational activities - particularly language training- aimed at supporting SolidarityNow's beneficiaries.Generic responsibilities
- Provide Greek language courses and intercultural education to adult refugees and migrants.
- Focus on the social and cultural context of Greece, the European way of life and basic labor rights in Greece.
- Teach job-specific vocabulary (terminology) related to key sectors such as construction, agriculture, tourism and others.
- Support the design and development of educational resources that address the integration needs of beneficiaries.
- Oversee the distribution of teaching and learning materials.
- Monitor, track, and report on the progress of classes on a regular basis.
- Develop and maintain effective filing systems, both digital and physical.
- Update and maintain effective workplans to ensure smooth implementation of activities.
- Prepare class materials, including lesson plans, and assess student progress.
- Participate in meetings with other educators, partners and staff.
- Fluency in both Greek and English (spoken and written)
- Bachelor's degree in Greek Philology
- Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching Greek as a foreign language, either in a paid or voluntary capacity
- Proven experience in report writing
- Excellent computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office
- Valid driving license
- Clean criminal record
- Willingness to work in refugee camp settings
- Master's degree in teaching Greek as a second or foreign language or Language Education for Refugees and Migrants or Intercultural Education or any other relevant field will be an advantage
- Certification of the teaching qualification of Trainers for Adults in non-formal education (attributed by National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications & Vocational Guidance)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Motivated, energetic, and capable of inspiring and engaging learners
- Knowledge of refugee population first language will be an advantage
