We are seeking a detail-oriented, result-driven and technically proficient Contract Engineer to support our offshore cable laying and protection projects. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring day-to-day the progress of the projects’ execution, performing contract administration tasks; drafting, reviewing, and managing variation orders and contract correspondence based on evolving project conditions and technical inputs, in harmony and coordination with project management, technical, commercial, cost control, contractual and legal teams. In brief, this role bridges the gap between technical execution and commercial/contractual management, ensuring our contractual obligations and entitlements are fully aligned and protected.Responsibilities
  • Variation Orders & Contract Amendments
  • Draft, prepare, and support the negotiation of variation orders based on technical changes, clients’ instructions, scope deviations or unforeseen conditions in accordance with bespoke and/or widely used contract forms.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and offshore teams to gather and interpret project data (e.g., installation changes, seabed/soil conditions, protection measures and unforeseen conditions).
  • Ensure variations are contractually justified and documented in accordance with contract terms, aligning with company processes.
  • Contract Administration
  • Monitor contract execution to identify areas where changes may affect commercial or contractual aspects and keep track of such occasions.
  • Maintain accurate records of contractual correspondence, site instructions, and change events.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for claims or commercial negotiations.
  • Stakeholder Coordination
  • Act as the interface between project management, engineering, procurement, and legal teams on contract matters.
  • Liaise with clients and subcontractors for, including but not limited to variation order discussions and clarifications.
  • Risk & Compliance
  • Identify and propose mitigation measures for potential contractual risks or exposures and escalate as needed.
  • Ensure all variation processes comply with internal policies and external contractual obligations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Contract Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in contract engineering, preferably in offshore cable installation or subsea projects.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, variation mechanisms, and commercial documentation.
  • Ability to interpret and translate technical project information into contractual language.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and contract management tools (e.g., SharePoint, Aconex, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Eager to expand knowledge and gain experience in a competitive and challenging field that has unique characteristics
